Rates, units, and rounding
Convert the time in each category into claim units and the correct base value.
Quick answer: Each category uses 15-minute units. Q310A, Q312A, and Q313A are $20 per unit. Q311A is $17 per unit. Add the minutes for one category across the day before applying the eight-minute rounding threshold.

Base rates
| Code | Per unit | Per hour |
|---|---|---|
| Q310A direct care | $20 | $80 |
| Q311A out-of-office telephone care | $17 | $68 |
| Q312A indirect care | $20 | $80 |
| Q313A clinical administration | $20 | $80 |
Calculate the units
- Add the actual minutes for one category across the calendar day.
- Divide the total by 15.
- Keep the whole units. Add one unit only when the remainder is eight minutes or more.
- Multiply the units by $20 for Q310A, Q312A, or Q313A, or by $17 for Q311A.
Examples
- 67 cumulative Q312A minutes equals four units because the 7-minute remainder does not round up. Base value: $80.
- 68 cumulative Q312A minutes equals five units because the 8-minute remainder rounds up. Base value: $100.
- 60 cumulative Q311A minutes equals four units. Base value: $68.
Important notes
- Do not submit an eligible hourly code with a billed value of $0. Under the May 2026 processing update, those claims reject with V41.
- Relativity adjustments can affect actual payment. The app displays a base-rate estimate.
